doing Great things
a short guide
Everyone knows the feeding of the 5000 story from Mark 6:38
- Jesus told his discplies to feed a great crowd.
- They shouted " where in the world would we get the money to do that!"
- Jesus asked what they had currently, gave a few more instructions , then performed what we now call a miracle.
The story ends in Mark 6:42
"They all ate and were satisfied — with remainder"
During my NYSC I was given a great task.
One that involved me having to increase my bank limit because I was going to handle money I had never handled before. One that would make me learn things like stakeholder management, public speaking and how to give a firm handshake because I was going to walk into rooms I relatively had no business being in.
But I did it.
That is the koko of the story.
I did it.
Through Christ who strengthened me, my family, my friends, and even strangers.
Because that was literally it.
I'm not trying to speak christianese or be theological. Hosting the Orphanage Games literally grounded my believe that there is a God.
Very few people understand the type of fear that grips when you've announced an event , you've made all the plans, but the venue and complete budget for the event have not been finalised.
When everyone on your team is telling you to do the responsible thing and have a plan B but you're so fixated on plan A because you truly believe plan A was what God wanted and you just "knew" it had to be plan A.
Ever since that encounter, my audacity or lets say faith or to some people "big eye" has increased massively.
It made me somehow understand when pastors like Oyedepo say they can't be bothered because God has handled it.
And before you go, I'm not telling you to choose projects that are beyond you so you can claim "faith".
I'm telling you that if God gives you an assignment. And you are sure it is from Him.
Your first step should not be to worry or scream or panick. Your first step should be "okay, how do we do it?"
And then all you have to do is follow his instructions.
When Jesus instructed the disciples, the discplies thought they were receiving an instruction from their rabbi.
I believe for a second that they forgot their "rabbi" was also God incarnate.
Do not allow see finish blind you from the power of Jesus.
My life has been so meaningful since I discovered this.
